The Art of Doll Making

The Deptford Doll-Maker

Cotton Cute began because of "The Doll-makers" love to craft toys, especially toys made from natural materials, such as Waldorf/Steiner or Sonnen Dolls (they are known by many names). They bring back memories of pleasant days spent as a child playing and crafting...and the best times of all? when family would join in".

What's so nice about Waldorf inspired Dolls, is that each Doll is always unique and never the same.

How the Doll Maker came to be in the old part of Deptford is nearly as old as the glimmers of the ancient tracks from the old lime stone quarry or the few old cobble stones under the Victorian rail way arches, were one story meets many, all with different tales to tell.

With so many brilliant and unique little people in this world, one Doll Maker couldn't possibly handcraft so many Dolls, for so many wonderful little people.

Each Doll needs to be special and each Doll must be made with love and care.

Luckily there are so many happy helpers out there...a world full of Mummies, and Daddies, big Brothers and big Sisters, Grandfathers, and Grandmothers, Aunties and Uncles and all of our dear Cousins, Friends and more... all happy to help make a very special Friend together and to build on making many wonderful memories for the future.

So rather then make just a very expensive doll each week, the Doll Maker and Friends at Cotton Cute began to get to work to share the Art of Doll- Making through a few free basic Tutorials and Patterns, as well as designing Quality Doll Making kits and equipment to make the wonderful event of Doll Making more accessible.

There is a short description below of all the wonderful doll making things we do and hope that you will join us in "The Doll Makers Journey", comprising of wonderful Tutorials and Patterns , with Kits available at the "Cotton Cute Shop as the journey moves forward.
